Attic temperatures range from 120-150 degrees in the summer and can be extremely cold in the winter. Proper insulation will allow your home to stay much more comfortable and maintain the climate produced by your heating and cooling system. A thick layer of quality attic insulation will keep hot and cold air in your attic and out of your home.
When your air conditioning and heating system runs less, you will have a lower utility bill. It's really that simple. Heating and cooling your home is roughly 50-60% of your utility costs. This is why CPS Energy offers attic insulation rebates for homes with poor insulation. Most people save up to 30% on utility costs just by adding insulation!
Be sure to ask us about CPS rebates.
Owens corning blown insulation products are guaranteed not to settle for life and contain no formaldehyde, pesticides, or fire retardants. Owens corning blown in insulation is manufactured in a plant powered 100% by wind energy using recycled glass. That's about as green as it gets and no one has been doing it longer.
The first thing we do is inspect your attic. Some companies just stick their head up there, we don’t. Our inspection entails crawling from end to end, looking at everything. We check to see how much insulation you have and how much you need all while looking for potential problems. If we see something we don’t like, we take a picture and address it with you.
In the attic we visibly inspect the air ducts for holes or leaks. We also look for electrical or plumbing problems. If we notice any rodent damage or debris that might need to be repaired or removed, you will know.
Now is the time to deal with these issues before everything is buried under a foot of insulation!
After the inspection, we will discuss what we found and provide a plan moving forward. We leave you with an exact cost and scope of work. If your home qualifies for a CPS rebate, we will explain the process and handle the paperwork for you.
We are a no pressure company. You schedule the work when you’re ready and we never ask for money before the job is completed.
The first thing we do is clean up in case anything hit the floor. Next we will invite you to take a look at the attic or you can review the pictures we took while working. Next is paperwork and we leave you with a detailed invoice. Lastly, we collect payment when we’re both satisfied with the job and all your question's have been answered. We accept cash, checks, and major credit cards.
If you can see the ceiling joists in the attic, that’s the wood framing on the floor of the attic, then you are likely in need of insulation. Ideally, your attic insulation should be at least one foot deep.
Most jobs take a few hours. 3-4 on average. We will provide you with an approximate time when we see the house.
Not for us. We have been at this for a long time and know how to be careful. We use tarps under our workspace and always run a vacuum when we’re done.
For many CPS customers the answer is yes. It depends how much insulation you currently have. We can let you know for sure during the inspection. See our rebate tab for more information...
The cost depends generally on three factors. How much material we need, square footage, and how difficult the job is. At the end of the day we want your insulation to be over a foot deep. Because we have been at this for so many years, working in every neighborhood, we usually can tell you over the phone what the cost will be.
If your insulation is extremely poor, you will notice a big difference. Your air conditioner will run much less and your home will feel comfortable again. Really huge. It just depends on what you have in the attic currently. We will certainly be able to let you know how much of an impact our services will have when we see the attic.
Absolutely. A home with poor insulation will cause the air conditioner and heater to run much longer than it should. Many AC's we find in the summer run almost non stop, at least during the day. Certainly an AC that is overworked will not last as long as it should and eventually require costly repairs.
No. We did years ago but fount that it had some significant downsides. See our blog for more info.
